The Productivity Comission released its Disability Care and Support Inquiry Report on 10 August 2011.
It recommended the introduction of a National Disability Insurance Scheme to provide support for people who have significant disability and a no-fault National Injury Insurance Scheme to provide support for people who experience catastrophic injury.
The Federal Government, on 10 August 2011 issued a Media Release in response.
The Government media release supports the Productivity Commission’s ‘vision for a system that provides people with the support they need over a lifetime’ and announced the first steps it intends to take towards building the foundation for reform.
DANA supports the Every Australia Counts Campaign.
The Campaign seeks the introduction of a National Disability Insurance Scheme that provides self-directed individualised supports to people with disabilites.
