The Productivity Comission released its  Disability Care and Support Inquiry Report on 10 August 2011.

It recommended the introduction of a National Disability Insurance Scheme to provide support for people who have significant disability  and a no-fault National Injury Insurance Scheme to provide support for people who experience catastrophic injury.

The Federal Government, on 10 August 2011 issued a Media Release  in response.

The Government media release supports the Productivity Commission’s ‘vision for a system that provides people with the support they need over a lifetime’ and  announced the first steps it intends to take towards building the foundation for reform.

DANA supports the Every Australia Counts Campaign.

The Campaign seeks the introduction of a National Disability Insurance Scheme that provides self-directed individualised supports to people with disabilites.

The Productivity Comission released its  Caring for Older Australians Inquiry Report on 8 August 2011.
