Former Deputy Secretary of Ageing, Disability and Home Care at the NSW Department of Family and Community Services, Jim Longley, has resigned following a charity payment scandal. The scandal, now part of an Inquiry, details Longley as one of 10 directors who, over a decade, shared $2.5 million in ‘consulting fees’. These fees were collected for standing on the board of charity home nursing provider, RSL LifeCare. NSW State law prohibits directors of charities receiving any remuneration unless they have express written permission from a minister. The inquiry has so far led to reports of cover-ups and fraud, leading to the resignation of RSL’s entire NSW council.
