This edition of DANA’s eNews is out and full of the latest news about advocacy, this week’s Federal Budget, the NDIS, the Disability Royal Commission, and COVID-19 information. There are some significant recent updates about the NDIS, systemic advocacy, the DRC public hearings and many events and opportunities for the community.
Prior to 2018, there were few studies that examined emergency planning and crisis response from a disability perspective, but there has been growing attention on this topic in recent years. This article presents some of the resources that have been developed around emergency planning and crisis responses that consider the needs of, and barriers facing marginalised communities and isolated individuals with disability, including projects developed by disability advocates and advocacy organisations.

People with disability, their family, supporters and advocates can share experiences of violence, neglect, abuse or exploitation with the Royal Commission. This helps the DRC learn more about the problem and how to help prevent it in the future. But 2022 is the final year for people to share their stories with the Disability Royal Commission. The final date for submissions is 31 December 2022.
