Your Story Disability Legal Support is holding some online events in early December including, a webinar for Queensland community workers, a conversation about LGBTIQA+ communities and the Disability Royal Commission and ‘Fearless and fabulous: Celebrating the disability community’ (on International Day of People with Disability)
Act now to achieve minimum accessibility housing standards for NSW!
Many within the disability advocacy sector would be aware that a majority of state and federal governments recently voted to include minimum housing accessibility standards in the National Construction Code (the NCC). Victoria, Qld, ACT and TAS will be accepting the new accessibility provisions and will be importing them into their own jurisdictions.
But NSW is planning to actively ignore the new sections, and won’t even provide clear reasons why. Together, we can make sure people with accessibility needs in NSW aren’t left behind.

Many people with disability are extremely concerned about the risks to their health and the health of their loved ones as Australia starts to reopen from COVID lockdowns. That’s because many people with disability are at greater risk of sickness and death if they get infected with COVID, which is why people with disability were supposed to be prioritised for vaccinations and be double-dosed back in April…
