The National Centre for Disability Advocacy (NCDA) is dedicated to improving access to and the quality of individual advocacy services in Australia. Established in 2022 as part of Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021-2031, the NCDA works to strengthen the disability advocacy sector by highlighting best-practice service delivery models and providing essential resources to advocacy organisations and professionals.
Supporting Disability Advocacy Across Australia
During the development of the NCDA, extensive sector consultations identified the need for a centralised hub—a “one-stop shop”—to support individual advocates and advocacy organisations. In response, the NCDA has developed a Disability Advocacy Portal, designed to provide access to high-quality resources, an event calendar, communities of practice, and tools to capture data on systemic advocacy and unmet demand.
After careful design and consultation, the NCDA Portal entered its testing phase in 2024, with a full launch expected later in the year. This platform will empower advocates with the information and tools they need to enhance their services and improve outcomes for people with disability.
Who Can Access the NCDA Partner Portal?
The NCDA Partner Portal is available exclusively to individual advocates working for organisations funded under the National Disability Advocacy Program (NDAP). This access ensures that advocates receive tailored support, up-to-date information, and a professional network to strengthen their work in the disability advocacy sector.
Governance and Oversight
The NCDA is delivered by Disability Advocacy Network Australia (DANA) and operates under DANA’s governance structure and constitution. As the peak body for independent disability advocacy in Australia, DANA provides leadership, guidance, and strategic direction to the NCDA, ensuring its services align with the needs of advocates and the communities they support.
